There are 17 steps in the Call Process and we are on Step 7 DETERMINING MINISTRY NEEDS An explanation of Step 7 from the Oregon Synod website: "The congregation's mission statement and a Congregational Mission Profile (according to the ELCA Congregational Mission Profile material) shall be developed (or reviewed and updated) by the Call Committee or other delegated committee. The interim pastor or another representative of the bishop shall serve as a consultant to the call process. The profile will provide a summary of the congregation's ministry, its goals and leadership needs. The completed profile shall be sent to the bishop." ELCA website Call Process is that unique and prayerful way by which the synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America engage their congregations, church-related organizations and rostered leaders (ordained ministers, associates in ministry, diaconal ministers, deaconesses, including candidates for each of these rosters) in a time of thoughtful assessment and spiritual discernment of the way God may be drawing each toward the other for mutual ministry for the sake of the mission and ministry of the church. Each of the sixty-five synods of the ELCA is responsible for the management of the call process within the territory of their respective synod. |
